In order to be different, you have to do things differently, so when we designed this Kotiate, we thought of a number of ways in which we could make people think and set a powerful first impression. This Taonga has a very comfortable handle, which is perfectly assisted with the beige cord lashing. When you hold this Kotiate, you will notice that it is considerably light due to its dialed in profile, which is great for its size. The Kotiate was a prized weapon favored by Rangatira (Maori chiefs) when speech-making. It is also a pre-European weapon used for close combat. The carved notches were apparently so they got entwined with the combatant's intestines, as per the translation of the word kotiate, which means "to cut liver."
In most cases, our Kotiate are purchased to be gifted as birthday gifts, leaving/welcoming gifts, celebrations, and corporate events.
