Wahaika is a close quaters fighting weapon was used by fierce Māori warriors to incapacitate and disarm their enemies. The small figures carved onto it represent personal protectors for the wearer. These sacred ancent Māori Taonga are symbols of mana (authority), status, cultural identity, and important relationships.
