This Patu you see here is one of our most complex designs. The attention to detail has really brought this Taonga to life. An added cord handle lashing to emphasize its character. Mere or Patu were originally used by Māori in hand-to-hand combat. They were also utilized as a everyday tool for cutting and striking objects. These sacred ancent Māori Taonga are symbols of mana (authority), status, cultural identity, and important relationships.
