This Taonga named, Ahikā is the reminder of one who is the keeper, protector, and kaitiaki of the whenua. Embodying the significance of those who serve the land and keep the Ahi or fire burning. In the black opal inlayed eyes, you will notice that the light can shine through from the back due to well positioned holes. To complete this ataahua taonga, it is adorned with a thick brown cord lashing to ensure its wearer is comfortable when wearing such a powerful and large Tahei.
