On both sides on both of this Patu, you will see a sleek design carved into it. This Patu is really something else. A beautiful piece of  traditional Māori weaponry art. There are only a few made like it. It is translucent when held in front of a light. The most beautiful feature is the incredible veining we captured, which perfectly runs through the entire Patu. Mere or Patu were originally used by Māori in hand-to-hand combat. They were also utilized as an everyday tool for cutting and striking objects. These sacred ancent Māori Taonga are symbols of mana (authority), status, cultural identity, and important relationships.
