Te Parawhau Series #4 Kaitiaki o Nga Tupuna o Ruarangi
Located south of Whangarei, Ruarangi was a Pa site, a strategic elevation with uninhibited views of the Harbour towards Mt Manaia, From this vantage point, a signal fire would be lit opening communication to other key posts through out the region

Also located here are a series of Tomo leading north west
Prior to being sealed, these  tomo  were used as safe passage and burial site

The whenua has a natural landmark, a sacred Kohatu,  which stands some 15ft high  with indentations of shaping Taonga that are still clearly visible today
