This Patu you see here is one of our most complex designs. The attention to detail has really brought this Taonga to life. An added cord handle lashing to emphasize its character.  We not only appreciate the large size of this Patu but the Māori art displayed. This is a one of a kind so we expect it to find a new whare and whanau soon. Mere or Patu were originally used by Māori in hand-to-hand combat. They were also utilized as a everyday tool for cutting and striking objects. These sacred ancent Māori Taonga are symbols of mana (authority), status, cultural identity, and important relationships.
