The patu you see here is one that really makes an impact. This is one of only a few that we have made of this particular stone. It has a vibrant green hue that runs through the kohatu. Natural in all its beauty.

Mere or Patu were originally used by Māori in hand-to-hand combat. They were also utilized as a everyday tool for cutting and striking object. These sacred ancent Māori Taonga symbols of mana (authority), status, cultural identity, and important relationships.
